What are the health benefits of goji berries for women?

Despite the proliferation of fantastic health claims surrounding goji berries, there have been few good-quality human or animal studies to prove their effectiveness, according to Canadian Globe and Mail columnist Leslie Beck, RD. She cites, for example, one of the most recent goji berry studies published last year in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine -- a study which was industry-funded. This study claimed that consuming goji berry juice for as little as two weeks increased energy and improved gastrointestinal function in study participants.

Despite this hype, Leslie warns: "Goji berries are not a silver bullet or cure-all. You're best off enjoying these berries, like all berries, in moderation as part of a well-balanced diet."
