Do insurance companies cover nicotine lozenges for smoking cessation?

Yes, some insurance companies do. It all depends on the particular company and your plan with that company. However, for those that do, generally you must be enrolled in a counseling program (phone interviews may be sufficient) as well because studies have shown a much higher success rate and decreased relapse rate when medications (like lozenges) are combined with counseling. The best way to find out if it's covered is to look at the covered medications for your particular plan at your insurance company's website or call the insurance company to find out.
