Do insurance companies cover nicotine gum for smoking cessation?

Many do but you need to check with your insurance company on that. If they do, they will not usually cover you buying it at the drugstore but only in consultation with a doctor. Some insurance companies (including some state Medicaid programs) will only cover tobacco cessation aids if you are also involved in counseling programs (such as with a doctor, phone consults, or group program).
