Who have been the main supporters of healthcare reform over the years?

Joane Goodroe
Nursing

Both the government and private industry have been supporters of healthcare reform. Some of the reasons include:

The United States spends a larger share of its gross domestic product on health care than any other major industrialized country and yet health data shows that the U.S. overall health and results of care are not as good as other countries. Both businesses and individuals continue to pay more and more for healthcare.

Health care costs are also the one of the fastest growing components of the Federal budget. Medicare is projected to run out of money by the year 2024.

Healthcare costs affect everyone. Higher healthcare costs make reform important for the government, private business, families and individuals. The only disagreement in healthcare reform is how changes are made.
