Yes, there is an important reason to consider buying your health insurance through an exchange. If you qualify for a subsidy under the Affordable Care Act, you must buy your health insurance through an exchange to receive the subsidy. Consumers with incomes up to 400 percent of the federal poverty level ($45,960 for an individual and $94,200 for a family of four in 2013) may be eligible for these subsidies.
