How can personal power contribute to happiness?

Dr. Kathleen Hall
Preventive Medicine
Individuals cannot experience true happiness without a sense of personal power in their lives. How can we restore our own sense of authentic power within ourselves? Our challenge is to explore the concept of power as force (power over) and power as strength (power with). It is important we make the distinction between the self-serving, destructive power of domination and greed we have witnessed in the stories of Enron and Tyco, and the life-affirming, creative power of compassion and charity we have witnessed in the works of Gandhi, Mother Teresa, and many others.

Opportunities for balance, true happiness, and strength, exist in every minute of the day, but most of us have lost the ability to recognize the happiness waiting to be discovered in the simple moments of our lives.
