Pubic lice can often be treated at home, but there are times when a doctor should be consulted. Pregnant women should always consult a doctor before using any kind of anti-louse shampoo. If you've tried using over-the-counter treatments and they haven't worked, a doctor can prescribe stronger medications. Finally, if any scratches or other lesions resulting from scratching become infected, see a doctor.
