In some studies, coffee and vitamin C have been shown to lower uric acid levels in the blood. Eating dark fruits such as cherries and blackberries may have a similar effect. Talk to your doctor to discuss other ways to treat gout. Whole grain products, plant oils, vegetables, and adequate amounts of water are also recommended.
