Who should not take solifenacin (VESIcare)?

People who are allergic to solifenacin should not take it. Solifenacin may cause complications for people who have liver or kidney disease, problems urinating like blockage, glaucoma, digestive problems like blockage or heart problems. Solifenacin can be harmful to infants and unborn children, so do not take solifenacin while pregnant or breastfeeding. Before taking solifenacin, tell your doctor all prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, vitamins and herbal supplements you are taking.

Avoid exercising in hot weather or hot rooms, and be sure to drink plenty of fluids, as solifenacin affects your ability to perspire and makes you more prone to heat stroke. Seek immediate medical attention if you begin to experience symptoms, such as overheating, unquenchable thirst, discomfort during urination, constipation or if you completely stop urinating. Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery when taking solifenacin, as it can impair your ability to see clearly and respond as needed.
