If you are allergic to sevelamer, the main ingredient in Renagel, you should not take this drug. You also should not take it if you have hypophosphatemia (low phosphate levels). You may not be able to take if it you have certain medical problems, such as a digestive disorder, serious constipation, past surgery on your gastrointestinal tract, or problem with swallowing.
