Renagel, also known the generic name sevelamer, is a prescription medication for people with kidney disease who are on dialysis and have high phosphate levels in their blood. This drug is a phosphate binder that lowers the phosphate levels in your body. It is used to prevent hypocalcemia, a condition of low calcium levels in your body due to abnormally high phosphate levels.
