What is Dianeal Low Calcium?

Dianeal Low Calcium is a prescribed medication that is used during peritoneal dialysis in people with kidney failure. The solution is administered into the peritoneal cavity (the abdominal sac holding your intestinal organs) through a catheter. Together with the membrane of the peritoneal cavity, the solution is able to clean waste from the blood in place of the kidneys. After several hours the solution is drained out, along with the waste. The dialysis process is then repeated four or five times a day. Dianeal Low Calcium is a brand-name solution that contains dextrose, sodium chloride, sodium lactate, calcium chloride, and magnesium chloride.
