What are the side effects of Renagel?

The most common side effects of Renagel (sevelamer) include diarrhea or constipation, nausea or vomiting, an upset stomach, belching, stomach gas, and bloating. Call your doctor if these side effects become severe or won't go away. Call your doctor right away if you have any of the following less common side effects: severe constipation, severe stomach pain, fever, body chills or aches, flu-like symptoms, heartburn, indigestion, severe vomiting, and trouble breathing. If you experience symptoms of an allergic reaction, such as swelling of your face, hives, and difficulty breathing, call 911 to get emergency medical help.
