What should I know before receiving PrismaSol solution?

PrismaSol solution is given to children or adults who receive continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT). PrismaSol solution replaces the fluid lost during such therapies and can be used to correct blood chemistry irregularities that may develop during the procedure. PrismaSol solution also may be used in cases in which CRRT is used to filter toxins related to drug poisoning. PrismaSol solution must be given by a trained healthcare professional. If the solution is given incorrectly, imbalances in fluids, electrolytes and glucose (blood sugar) can occur and might cause health complications. Your important fluid levels, such as electrolytes and acid-base balances, will be monitored during the procedure. If you have diabetes, you will be monitored carefully for glucose imbalances.
