Can Fabry disease be prevented?

Since Fabry disease is inherited, it can't be prevented. However, early diagnosis and treatment with enzyme replacement therapy can be helpful in slowing or stopping progression. Accordingly, it is important to visit a doctor if you display symptoms and especially if you have a family history of Fabry disease. If you are diagnosed with the disorder, consult with your doctor to figure out the steps to take to minimize the symptoms and slow the progress of the disease.
