Like most illness, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) can have complications. Substance abuse sometimes becomes a problem for people with GAD. They may also develop other mental health problems, such as panic attacks. People with generalized anxiety disorder may begin to have physical health issues including headaches, digestion disorders, and insomnia.
