Are there tumor markers for diagnosing gallbladder cancer?

Carbohydrate antigen 19-9, also called CA 19-9, and carcinoembryonic antigen, also called CEA, may be elevated in those who have gallbladder cancer. However, this tends to occur more often in advanced stage cancer and levels may be normal in early stages. CA 19-9 and CEA are not generally used in isolation to diagnose gallbladder cancer.
