The severity of appendix cancer depends on the type and location of the tumors. For example, five-year survival rates vary from 88% for people with localized carcinoid tumors to 25% for people with carcinoid tumors that have spread to distant parts of the body. It is important not to take these statistics too seriously, though, because prognosis varies greatly by a number of factors for each person.
