Can gallbladder cancer be prevented?

In most cases, gallbladder cancer cannot be prevented, although you can lower your risk. Maintaining a healthy weight, exercising, and eating a balanced diet with at least five servings of fruits and vegetables per day can reduce your chances of getting this form of cancer. The presence of gallstones can increase your risk of gallbladder cancer. However, this form of cancer is very rare, even in those with gallstones. Surgery associated risks, then, may not offset the potential benefits.
