What is Toviaz (fesoterodine extended-release tablets)?

Toviaz (fesoterodine extended-release tablet) is a prescription medication that treats symptoms of overactive bladder, such as urinary incontinence, frequent urination or urinary urgency. The symptoms of overactive bladder are caused by involuntary contractions of bladder muscles. Toviaz treats these symptoms by preventing spasms of the smooth muscles in the bladder.

There are many causes of overactive bladder, including individual fluid intake, your body's reaction to a medication, medical conditions, such as diabetes, and bladder abnormalities, such as bladder stones or tumors.

Urination is considered frequent if it occurs at least eight times in a 24-hour period. Needing to get up at least twice a night to urinate is called nocturia, a symptom of overactive bladder.
