What is salsalate?

Salsalate is a prescription medication belonging to the class of drugs called salicylates. It is used to reduce swelling in the joints and relieves the associated pain and tenderness. It is most commonly prescribed to treat rheumatoid and other types of arthritis, although it can be used in other situations as well. It works by interrupting the chemical reaction that causes joint pain and inflammation.
