What should I avoid while taking promethazine?

Promethazine is a sedative, so you should avoid driving or performing other potentially unsafe tasks until you determine how promethazine affects you. Alcohol and other medications that cause drowsiness may interact with promethazine to increase the sedative effect. Promethazine causes skin sensitivity to sunlight, so avoid unnecessary exposure to sunlight, tanning beds and sun lamps. If you will be exposed to sunlight, wear SPF products and protective clothing to minimize exposure to the skin.
