What are the side effects of Mesalamine Rectal Suspension USP, Enema?

Side effects of Mesalamine Rectal Suspension USP, Enema may be:

  • fever
  • sore throat
  • rectal pain
  • constipation
  • skin rash
  • tired feeling
  • headache
  • vomiting
  • stomach cramps
  • diarrhea
  • mild nausea
  • gas

Other side effects may be serious. These include bloody diarrhea, fever, headache, cramping and stomach pain. If you experience any of these side effects or any other side effects that persist, inform your doctor promptly. Mesalamine Rectal Suspension USP, Enema may also cause an allergic reaction. Signs of an allergic reaction include difficulty breathing, hives, swelling of the lips, tongue, face or throat. Call 911 for difficulty breathing, swelling of the mouth, lips or tongue. Seek emergency medical attention for hives, a rash or itching.
