Who shouldn’t use hyoscyamine sulfate extended release tablets?

People who are allergic to hyoscyamine sulfate should not use this medication. Certain health conditions can also prevent or affect the use of hyoscyamine sulfate, including

  • glaucoma
  • enlarged prostate
  • intestinal blockage
  • kidney disease
  • ulcerative colitis
  • myasthenia gravis
  • toxic megacolon (neuromuscular disorder)
Pregnancy can also affect the use of hyoscyamine sulfate. If you are pregnant or become pregnant, they may be a risk that this type of medication can affect the fetus. Talk to your doctor about the risk and benefits of hyoscyamine sulfate extended release tablets use while you’re pregnant or breastfeeding.
