If my cough continues, should I take more promethazine?

If your cough does not go away while you are taking promethazine-codeine, you should not increase your dose without first talking to your doctor. Do not take more medicine or for longer than prescribed. If your cough lasts longer than five days, you should return to your doctor, who will reassess your condition and recommend additional treatment.
