How soon after taking Relistor (methylnaltrexone) will my symptoms improve?

Most people have a bowel movement within a few minutes or a few hours of taking Relistor (methylnaltrexone). Most of the time, Relistor effectively relieves opioid-induced constipation within 30 minutes after being injected. Relistor is usually taken every other day and should not be taken more than once in a 24-hour period. Long-term use of Relistor (over 4 months) has not been studied or approved. Talk to your doctor if your constipation does not go away or if you get severe diarrhea while taking Relistor.
