How soon after starting propantheline will my symptoms improve?

If you're taking propantheline (Pro-Banthine) to help treat peptic ulcers (which is what the Food and Drug Administration has approved it for), you may get some relief from symptoms like stomach pain and muscle spasms soon after you take your first dose. However, it may take several weeks for your ulcer to heal completely.

Doctors sometimes prescribe propantheline "off label" to treat other problems including urinary retention, urine leakage and excessive sweating. If you're taking the medicine for one of these reasons, talk to your doctor about how soon you can expect to see improvements in your symptoms.
