Can I get an infection from taking pancreatic enzymes?

Although no cases have ever been reported, it is, in theory, possible to acquire an infection from oral pancreatic enzymes because the source is pancreatic tissue from pigs used in the food industry. The manufacturers do use processes (including testing for and inactivating known viruses) to minimize the risk of viral transmission to humans. Talk with your doctor about any concerns you have about infections.
