What should I avoid while taking pancreatic enzymes?

If you are taking pancreatic enzymes, there are a few things you might need to avoid. Women might not want to breastfeed while on pancreatic enzymes and should discuss possible options with their doctors before taking the medication. Likewise, you should discuss any medications or herbal remedies you currently take, in case your doctor suggests that you stay off of them while taking pancreatic enzymes. In particular, antacids that contain calcium or magnesium, diabetes medications, such as miglitol or acarbose, and ulcer medicines, such as ranitidine or famotidine, might react poorly with pancreatic enzymes.
