How should I take dexlansoprazole delayed-release capsules?

Take dexlansoprazole (Dexilant) exactly as your doctor tells you to. Typically it's taken once a day at the same time each day to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Your doctor may recommend taking dexlansoprazole after a meal. This drug comes in the form of a time-release capsule, so swallow each capsule whole: Do not chew or crush it. If you can't swallow the entire capsule, open it and sprinkle the granules onto a tablespoon of applesauce, and swallow it quickly. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about any directions you do not understand.
