How should I take Prevacid?

Prevacid should be taken orally in delayed release capsule or liquid solution form. People who have nasogastric tubes can inject the liquid form into their tube. When taking delayed release capsules, you should swallow the entire capsule at once. However, if this is not possible, carefully open the capsule and add the medicine to a small amount of applesauce, pudding, yogurt, or other easily swallowed food. You may also mix the contents of a capsule with orange or tomato juice. Never chew or crush the capsule. If you are taking Prevacid in liquid solution form, open the packet and mix it with a few tablespoons of water. Drink it immediately, adding more water if any medicine remains in the glass. Liquid solution should only be added to water unless you have a nasogastric tube. In this case, mix the solution with apple juice instead.
