What is vaginal anti-fungal cream?

Vaginal anti-fungal creams are used to treat fungal infections that take hold in the vagina, like yeast infections. The cream is usually applied in the vagina with an applicator. It also may be applied on the outside of the vagina to help with itching. Over-the-counter butoconazole, clotrimazole and miconazole can be used to treat vaginal fungal infections. Some brand names include: Femstat, Gyne-Lotrimin and Monistat, of which some have generic equivalents.
