How is jock itch treated?

Dr. Mehmet Oz, MD
Cardiology (Cardiovascular Disease)
Anti-fungal medications and good hygiene can help control jock itch. Also called tinea cruris, jock itch is a common skin problem among males, especially young athletes. It produces a red, itchy rash in the groin area that can be painful. Jock itch is caused by a fungus, so using an antifungal medication can help to clear up the problem. Fungi flourish in warm, damp environments, so keeping skin dry and clean is essential. Always wearing clean underwear and athletic supporters will help, too.
