Many foot related sports injuries can be treated with RICE: rest, ice, compression, and elevation. Over-the-counter pain relievers can help reduce pain, while wrapping or bracing the injured area can help with swelling and support. Corticosteroid injections may also help with pain and swelling, but they can also prolong the healing process. Rehabilitation involves exercises to get the injured area back to normal. In more severe cases, such as a broken foot, treatment options will likely be more serious and include a cast or surgery.
