How are organic foods grown?

Organic food must be produced without synthetic pesticides and fertilizers. Antibiotics and growth hormones made from animals are also banned. Organic growers aren't allowed to use chemical nitrogen fertilizers. They fertilize by using cover crops, compost and slow-release natural fertilizers. The result is smaller but more nutritious produce.
