Botulism food poisoning is very serious. The botulism toxin affects the nervous system. The symptoms of botulism food poisoning can include muscle weakness and paralysis. The effects of the illness can take weeks or months to go away. If botulism food poisoning is not treated quickly, the person with the illness may stop being able to breathe. For this reason, botulism food poisoning can be deadly.
