What should I avoid while taking fluoxetine?

Avoid taking a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI), St. John's wort, or other drugs that might interact with fluoxetine. Do not drive or operate machinery until you are certain how fluoxetine will influence your alertness, since the medicine causes you to become drowsy. Drinking alcohol can increase certain side effects of fluoxetine. Avoid getting pregnant or nursing while taking fluoxetine, as it may harm the fetus or infant.
