What are some side effects of fluoroquinolone antibiotics?

Fluoroquinolones and other antibiotics aren't without side effects. Nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain are the most common side effects. But fluoroquinolones have also been linked to peripheral neuropathy and an increased risk of tendinitis and tears in the Achilles' tendon at the back of the ankle and in other tendons. (Tendons connect muscles to joints.) Although relatively rare, the chance of tendon trouble increases in people who are over age 60, are taking corticosteroid drugs, or are organ transplant recipients.
