What is Factive?

Factive is the brand name for the active ingredient gemifloxacin, an oral antibiotic used to treat infections caused by susceptible bacteria. Factive is not used to treat infections caused by viruses. It is in a group of antibiotics called fluoroquinolone, or quinolone for short. It is intended for use in patients age at least 18 years of age with pneumonia or bronchitis.
