What are the side effects of norfloxacin?

Seek emergency medical care by calling 911 if you experience any of these potentially serious side effects of norfloxacin (Noroxin):
  • symptoms of an allergic reaction, characterized by breathing difficulty, hives, rash, itching or swelling in your face, lips, tongue or throat
  • seizures
  • fainting
  • confusion
  • rapid, irregular or pounding heartbeat
  • shortness of breath
Call your doctor right away and get medical attention if you have any of these serious side effects or symptoms:
  • severe headaches
  • dizziness
  • hallucinations
  • anxiety
  • restlessness
  • unusual thoughts or behavior, including not trusting others or feeling that others want to harm you
  • symptoms of tendonitis, tendon rupture or joint problems, especially in your ankles or arms, including a snapping or popping sound, sudden pain, bruising, stiffness, loss of movement or swelling
  • hoarseness
  • severe episodes of bloody or watery diarrhea
  • stomach cramps
  • pain in the upper part of your stomach
  • loss of appetite
  • pain, burning, tingling, numbness or weakness in your arms, hands, legs or feet
  • urinating infrequently or not at all
  • dark-colored urine
  • clay-colored stools
  • yellowing of the eyes or skin
  • pale skin
  • blistering, peeling, or red skin
  • unusual bruising or bleeding
  • muscle pain or weakness
  • uncontrollable shaking
  • fever
  • swollen glands
  • sore throat
 
Other side effects that may be bothersome but are less likely to be serious include:
  • nausea
  • vomiting
  • mild stomach pain or cramps
  • heartburn
  • diarrhea
  • constipation
  • feeling restless or anxious
  • mild headache
  • dizziness
  • sleep problems, including nightmares or insomnia,
  • vaginal itching or discharge
  • mild itching
Talk to your doctor if these side effects are severe or persistent.
