Who should not take nalidixic acid?

You should not take nalidixic acid if you are currently undergoing chemotherapy with melphalan or receiving treatment for a heart arrhythmia with such drugs as quinidine, procainamide, amiodarone, and sotalol. Also avoid this medication if you are allergic to it or any of its ingredients or if you have porphyria, a blood disease. Children younger than three months old should never receive this drug.
