What are the symptoms of flat feet?

If you have flat feet, the entire sole of your foot touches the ground when you stand or walk. Your ankle may roll over to the inner side. This can cause pain and inflammation in the foot and ankle, as well as instability that can cause pain in the knees, lower legs, hips and back. High-intensity activities, such as running, can be very difficult. Some people can have difficulty walking or standing for long periods.

Flat feet do not necessarily cause any symptoms at all. However, some people with flat feet do have pain in their feet and ankles. The pain can be especially noticeable while walking or running. They may also experience swelling around their ankles.
