What are the dangers of using a weight belt?

Lifters with heart disease and blood pressure problems should exercise caution when wearing a tight belt for long periods of time because it can elevate blood pressure.  Constantly wearing a belt can also cause decreased strength development in abdominal muscles because your spinal extensors are not required to work as hard to stabilize the body.
