  • Coughing, either forcefully or weakly
  • Clutching the throat with one or both hands 
  • An inability to cough, speak, cry or breathe 
  • Making high-pitched noises while inhaling, or noisy breathing
  • Panic 
  • Bluish skin color 
  • Losing consciousness
