What are signs of ehrlichiosis?

Many people with ehrlichiosis do not become ill. Some develop only mild signs that are seen 5 to 10 days after an infected tick bites the person.

Initial signs include the following:
  • Fever
  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle aches
Other signs that may develop include the following:
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Cough
  • Joint pains
  • Confusion
  • Rash (in some cases)
