Should I call 9-1-1 if someone is ill because of substance abuse?

Call 9-1-1 or the local emergency number if the person:
  • Is unconscious, confused, or seems to be losing consciousness
  • Has trouble breathing or is breathing irregularly
  • Has persistent pain or pressure in the chest or abdomen
  • Is vomiting blood or passing blood
  • Has a seizure, severe headache, or slurred speech
  • Acts violently
