Severe anxiety, including hyperventilation, is present at approximately 1/8 of those with fibromyalgia and needs to be treated along with the fibromyalgia when present. On the other hand, blaming fibromyalgia symptoms on anxiety or depression is as absurd as blaming cancer symptoms on anxiety or depression.
