You should not take follitropin alfa if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. Do not take this drug if you have an allergy to sodium phosphate, sucrose, or benzyl alcohol. You may not be able to use this drug if you have uncontrolled adrenal or thyroid conditions. Follitropin alfa is not for you if your ovaries do not produce eggs. If you have hormone-sensitive tumors or if you have cancer of the ovaries, uterus, or breast, you may not be able to use this drug. Brain lesions or tumors or pituitary tumors may prevent you from using follitropin alfa. You should not use this drug if you have irregular or heavy bleeding from your vagina or uterus. If you have enlarged ovaries or ovarian cysts not caused by polycystic ovary syndrome, then you may not be able to use this drug. Do not use this drug if you are pregnant or think you could be pregnant. This drug is known to cause birth defects in a fetus when it is used after ovulation.
