What increases my risk for fallopian tube cancer?

Fallopian tube cancer risk factors have not been fully established as this is a very rare form of cancer. However, doctors and scientists do note some association between inflammation or infection of the fallopian tubes and fallopian cancer. Those who have had sexually transmitted diseases, particularly those that have not been treated, may be at a higher risk as well. Genetic factors also likely play a role, and women with BRCA1 mutations, shown to increase risk for ovarian and breast cancer, may also be at increased risk for fallopian tube cancer.
