Will I be conscious during Lasik surgery?

You will be conscious during LASIK surgery. You will be asked to look at a fixation light. It is not possible to perform this procedure under general anesthesia at this time. We often give patients a mild sedative before the procedure to help reduce their anxiety. Strong anesthetic drops are placed on your eyes so the procedure is not painful. You may experience some pressure during creation of the corneal flap. However, patients find LASIK to be easier than they expect.
